White Friday

We’re in the frozen north (Columbus OH) celebrating Thanksgiving with Thomas’ family. Look what we woke up to this morning!

Lemon Meringue Wins.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Anyone want some tree?

Opportunities abound at our local Texaco, just down the street. Gina never goes there unless her gas gauge is seriously on empty (which happens more than it should) because people have asked her on two occasions to get in the car with them. Um no thanks, fellas.

Thomas was there today and a friendly guy struck up a conversation with him while he was pumping gas. They made small talk and both agreed that it’s nice to work hard and live an honest life. Strange conversation topic, but not so unusual really down here in NC. Then the guy sitting in the passenger seat of Thomas’ new friend’s car asked him, “Do you want some tree?” At least that’s what Thomas thought he heard. The guy had a strong accent.

Thomas thought maybe he meant: do you need to get a Christmas tree? He was confused.

“Do you want some weed?” the guy clarified.

You all will be proud to hear that Thomas said “No thanks.”

Winnie loves the taste of toilet paper tubes. The cardboard does get stuck in his teeth though.

Have you updated your Amazon wish list yet?  You better get started, everyone!!

Good one

Go Buckeyes! And yay for John Denver too! We didn’t do much other than watch the football game, rehearse, and play a concert today, so here’s one of Thomas’ famous flower pictures for you all to enjoy.

What we did today

We rehearsed for this.

Concert reviews

Both of us require our Music Appreciation students to attend a classical music concert during the semester and write up a report describing their experience.  For many students it’s the first time they’ve been to a symphony concert, so it’s fun to get their reactions and hear about the little things they notice.  Here are some of Gina’s favorite comments so far, all from students who went to a recent Greensboro Symphony concert:

There were a ton of old people there!

There were not as many snoots there as I thought, basically everyone was really nice.  At least that was until we were seated, there were two ladies behind us that were just talking constantly and eating potato chips and cheese crackers.  I could smell the aroma of cheese.

The music became so real to me… I nearly cried when Mr. Dmitry played.

I was excited at the thought of the concert, and very nervous.  I didn’t want to clap at the wrong time and embarrass my teacher. But I was proud of myself because I didn’t!

Sweet huh?  We have awesome students.
